Daily Life At Pixie

Does my child have to be toilet trained to attend Pixie?

No, your child does not need to be fully toilet trained to attend Pixie. We understand that every child develops at their own pace and will be ready when the time is right. For children who require diapering, a small additional monthly fee will apply.

How old does my child need to be to attend?

We welcome children ages 2 through 6 years old.

Are there different classrooms for each age group?

We embrace a mixed-age classroom. This approach allows younger children to learn from older peers, while older children develop leadership skills and confidence by helping their younger classmates. Mixed-age groups encourage collaboration, foster empathy, and create a more natural, family-like learning environment where every child can grow at their own pace.

Does the school provide food?

Parents are asked to pack a nutritious snack that includes at least three food groups. Please note that Pixie Play School is a nut-free environment to ensure the safety of all our children.

What is the discipline policy at Pixie?

At Pixie Play School, we use positive redirection to guide children, helping them build self-discipline, make positive choices, and learn to respect others in a safe, nurturing environment.

Do you celebrate holidays and birthdays?

Yes! We love celebrating birthdays and encourage families to share special moments with their children. We also do our best to recognize and celebrate a variety of holidays and traditions that reflect the diverse families at Pixie Play School.

Family Involvement

What is the Pixie Partnership Program?

Our Pixie Partnership Program encourages each family to contribute 20 hours of school community activities during the school year. There are several ways to participate. Families who are unable to complete 20 hours or choose to opt out will be assessed a fee.

Are there other ways I can be more involved?

Absolutely! As a non-profit organization, Pixie Play School is guided by a dedicated Board, typically existing of current family members, that works closely with our Director to ensure the school operates smoothly and meets all state requirements. The Board supports the Director in administrative and operational tasks, helping us provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for every child.

We value the involvement of our families, whose support and participation help make Pixie Play School a vibrant and thriving community.

Will there be an orientation?

Yes! We offer an orientation at the start of the school year to help children and families get comfortable with our school environment. Detailed information will be provided when you complete registration.

Will I need to attend the field trips?

Yes, each child must be accompanied by one adult on field trips, as the Director and Teacher are not authorized to transport children. This ensures a safe and supervised experience for every child.

Health, Allergies & Immunizations

What are the immunization requirements?

For enrollment, a medical report and proof of immunizations are required for each child. Similarly, all staff members must provide a medical report, proof of immunizations, and a current TB test before working in the classroom.

All health forms must be completed and returned before a child can participate in our program.

What is Pixie’s sick policy?

If your child is sick or contagious, we ask that they stay home until they have fully recovered. Please report any cases of contagious illness in your household to the school immediately. This allows us to promptly notify other families and help maintain a healthy environment for all.

What is the schools policy on food allergies?

Pixie Play School is a nut-free environment and accommodates a variety of other food allergies. Before each school year begins, we review classes for specific allergy needs, and all snacks brought to school are carefully aligned to ensure the safety and well-being of every child.
