Preschool Programs
We have three programs:
- Half-Big (minimum age of 2.4 years by September 30)
- Pre-K (minimum age of 3.4 years old by September 30)
- Enrichment (Kindergarten eligible for Fall 2010 and concurrently enrolled in Pre-K)
Other Program Information:
Half-Big
Our Half-Big Class meets twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00
am to 11:30 am. Children need not be potty trained.
Pre-K
Our Pre-Kindgergarten class meets three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
9:00 am to Noon.
Enrichment
Enrichment classes are offered to children in the Pre-K class who will be entering
Kindergarten the next fall. In the enrichment program, children practice skills
that specifically prepare them for Kindergarten. Enrichment classes meet once or
twice a week from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Daily Routine
Structure varies according to the program, but a typical day includes:

Greeting Circle: includes music, movement, and announcements of daily activities
planned.

Child initiated and adult facilitated (hands-on or free exploration) in our Art, Science,
Dramatic Play, Music & Movement, Blocks Pre-Math, or Library Areas.

Clean-up and Snack Time.

Free exploration outside: includes creative art, climbing, sand play, dramatic play,
bikes and water play.

Good-bye Circle: includes recalling activities of the day, a story, music, and movement.
Field Trips
As the children become comfortable in the Pixie setting we venture out on field
trips in our community. These field trips are an excellent way for the children
to experience what they are interested in and learning about in the classroom. We
have had field trips, to the Fire Department, Post Office, Musical Departments of
local schools, Grocery Stores, farms, parks, doctors' offices and theatres. Some
of our fieldtrips are visits to our current parents' place of employment.
