About Our Director
During her career, Geri has served children of various ages and populations. Her initial training was in Physical Education, from California State University, Hayward, with a concentration in dance. She taught dance and creative movement classes to preschool age children. Later, wanting to be more involved in all aspects of child development, she studied early childhood education at local colleges. Over the past ten years, Geri has worked as a teacher with children and parents for the Y.M.C.A., the county's Community Services Department, and a private childcare center in Concord. Geri returned to Pixie Play School as Co-Director in September, 2002 and is currently Director. She continues her love for children and to work closely with their parents.
Geri's goal is to help children develop in all areas - social, emotional, cognitive, linguistics, and physical.
"Children thrive when they feel that they are a contributing part of a community. Parents become role models by participating themselves and therefore playing a key part in developing their child's sense of community. I feel honored to work in an educational setting where parents are so involved."
